Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
