Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 Others will be despondent, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
