The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
