The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
