۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 Abraham said to himself, "By God! I will devise a plan against their idols when they are away." 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
