The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
