Nay, by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
