And assuredly Harun had said unto them afore: O my people! ye are only being tempted thereby; and verily your Lord is the Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command. 90 'We will not cease,' they said, 'to cleave to it, until Moses returns to us.') 91 [Musa (Moses)] said: "O Harun (Aaron)! What stopped you when you saw them going astray; 92 "That you followed me not (according to my advice to you)? Have you then disobeyed my order?" 93 "O son of my mother," (Aaron cried), do not pull me by my beard or my hair! I was really afraid you may say that I had created a rift among the children of Israel, and did not pay heed to your command." 94 [Musa (Moses)] said: "And what is the matter with you. O Samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)" 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 Your God is only the One God; there is no god, but He alone who in His knowledge embraces everything.' 98 Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves. 99 All who shall turn away from it will, verily, bear a [heavy] burden on the Day of Resurrection: 100 They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,- 101 The day the trumpet blast is sounded We shall raise the sinners blind, 102 They shall whisper among themselves: "You stayed on the earth barely ten days." 103 We know very well what they will say, when the best among them in knowledge and wisdom will say: "You stayed no longer than a day!" 104
