Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
