Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
