The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
