The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 Then they advised Pharaoh: 'Put off Moses and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to your cities 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
