Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To clear or to warn. 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 The heavens split asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 for an appointed term? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 for the living and the dead, 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 "Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches." 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 40
