The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 The closing night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
