The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
