The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
