The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
