۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said, “Indeed you all you and your forefathers were in open error.” 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 [But] We said: O fire! Be thou cool, and [a source of] inner peace for Abraham!" 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
