۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
