Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
