Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
