Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
