The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
