Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
