The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
