The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
