The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and raised couches 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those of the right hand. 38
