The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
