Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 Yet they make some of His creatures His offspring! Man is surely most ungrateful. 15
