Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true. 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Do they have another god besides God? God is too exalted to be considered equal to the idols. 43 And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up. 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
