The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
