The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
