The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
