AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 and We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds. 146 and We sent him forth to a nation of a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 we are the rangers, 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "If only we had a tradition [to this effect] from our forebears, 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 And praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 182
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
