The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
