He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
