The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 So cause a fragment of the sky to fall on us, if you are truthful." 187 He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.” 188 But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day. 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
