The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 Yet, when they see a sign they [who deny the truth] turn their backs and say, "The same old sorcery!" 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
