Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
