And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
