The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
