The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to God. He has sent the Book to His servant and has made it a flawless guide (for human beings) 1 and which rightly directs, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to proclaim to the believers who do righteous deeds that they shall have an excellent recompense, 2 In which they will remain forever 3 And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allah has begotten a son (or offspring or children)." 4 they have no knowledge of it, they nor their fathers; a monstrous word it is, issuing out of their mouths; they say nothing but a lie. 5 Possibly you may risk your life by grieving (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) for them if they do not believe in this narration. 6 Behold, We have willed that all beauty on earth be a means by which We put men to a test, [showing] which of them are best in conduct; 7 And lo! We shall make all that is thereon a barren mound. 8 Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? 9 [Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 And afterward We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties would best calculate the time that they had tarried. 12
