Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 2 Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son. 3 Certainly the foolish among us say preposterous things of God. 4 'And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 Like you, they thought that Allah would never raise the dead. 7 And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. 8 ‘And that we sometimes used to sit in some places in the sky, to listen; so whoever now listens finds a fiery comet waiting for him.’ 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 'And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allah, after listening to this Quran), and of us some are Al-Qasitun (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path)'. And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allah), then such have sought the Right Path." 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment. 17 Mosques belong to Allah, so do not call to anyone else, other than Allah. 18 (It has been revealed to me that) When the slave of Allah (Muhammad SAW) stood up invoking (his Lord Allah) in prayer to Him they (the jinns) just made round him a dense crowd as if sticking one over the other (in order to listen to the Prophet's recitation). 19
