The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
