The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
