Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
