The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
