The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
