1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ We had earlier given Abraham true direction, for We knew him well. 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 'Who has done this to our gods' they exclaimed. 'He must surely be a harmdoer' 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them the one called Ibrahim.” 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 and whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We caused them to suffer the greatest loss: 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
