The Messenger of God is certainly a good example for those of you who have hope in God and in the Day of Judgment and who remember God very often. 21 When the believers saw the confederates, they said, "This is what God and His Messenger have promised us. Surely the promise of God and His Messenger has come true." It served to increase them in faith and submission. 22 Among the believers there are people who are true in their promise to God. Some of them have already passed away and some of them are waiting. They never yield to any change. 23 All this happened in order that Allah may recompense the truthful for their truth, and may punish the hypocrites if He would, or relent toward them. Verily Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful. 24 Allah sent back the unbelievers in their rage, and they gained no good. Allah spared the believers from fighting, surely Allah is the Strong, the Mighty. 25 And He brought those of the People of the Scripture who supported them down from their strongholds, and cast panic into their hearts. Some ye slew, and ye made captive some. 26 God made you inherit their land, houses, property, and a land on which you had never walked. God has power over all things. 27
